    • Besides known risk factors for dementia such as diabetes, smoking, down syndrome, heavy alcohol use, obesity, high homocysteine levels, and of course, age, there is much we can do to protect our brains against neurodegeneration.
    • Maximise brain health by ensuring:
    • -
      Optimal Vit D levels
    • -
Strength/resistance training as part of your regular exercise
    • -
Avoid toxins esp mercury and aluminium
    • -
      Manage high Blood Pressure
    • -
Avoid/manage insulin resistance (Alzheimer's has been described by some researchers as Diabetes Type 3)
    • -
Eliminate all processed foods and sugars
    • -
      Challenge your mind daily
    • -
Consume high quality omega 3 fats eg krill oil, wild salmon
    • -
Reduce overall carbohydrate intake and increase healthy fats in the diet
    • -
The herbs Bacopa, Ginkgo, Green tea, Sage, and Lemon Balm may be helpful
    • -
      Vit E (mixed tocotrienols)
    • -
Coconut as oil, milk, cream, grated as part of your daily diet and Goats milk as these foods contain medium chain triglycerides that your brain is able to use as an alternative fuel supply.
