  • Being a woman is no easy ride...hormones up, hormones down, PMT, pregnancy, menopause - give me a break! OK, maybe give me some herbs and nutrients to help.

  • PMT: The herbs Chaste tree (or Vitex), Peony, Liquorice, Dong quai, and Vitamin B6 and magnesium can be very beneficial.

  • Fertility: The herbs listed for PMT, and also antioxidant herbs such as Olive leaf, Turmeric and calming herbs such as Lemon balm and Lavender, nutrients such as Zinc, Co Q 10, Selenium, Iodine, and omega 3 fats are also indicated.

  • Menopause: The herbs Sage, Black cohosh, Shatavari, Damiana, and nutrients such as Vitamins E and D can help ease some of the problems through menopause.

Underlying a healthy hormone balance is a healthy THYROID so if you are experiencing fatigue, low basal body temperature, dry skin, brittle nails, constipation, low mood, irregular menstruation, increased infections, cold intolerance... then consider speaking with your GP or Naturopath about a TSH test.

  • Please note that I use American ranges as these were revised many years ago due to too many patients being told their TSH was normal when they actually had sub-clinical Hypothyroidism. The Australian range for TSH was not altered and consequently, if you have a TSH test and it is 2.5- 5.0, you may be experiencing symptoms of an underfunctioning thyroid (even though your GP will tell you it is fine).

  • Don't let your hormones ruin (or run) your life...

  • Warmest wishes to you and your families for a wonderful Christmas - may the love, warmth and friendship of those around you make this a special time of year.
